Music Award for William Goodchild's Chimp Empire Score
William Goodchild’s score for Chimp Empire (Netflix) episode 1 has won the Panda Award for Music at Wildscreen Festival 2024.

Wildscreen Festival is a world-leading international wildlife film festival, held biennially in Bristol. It brings together wildlife filmmakers, conservationists, scientists and broadcasters from all over the world for a week of screenings, talks, panels, workshops and networking. The Panda Awards Ceremony or 'Green Oscars' as they're sometimes known, forms the culmination of a hugely inspiring week in celebration of natural world storytelling.
Chimp Empire is a four-part series for Netflix that presents a year in the life of the Ngogo Chimpanzees, the largest chimpanzee group ever discovered.
Directed by James Reed and written by James and Matt Houghton, the series explores the lives of the Ngogo chimps at a pivotal point in their history, following a split in the group and a growing conflict between the two new factions. Chimp Empire combines blue chip natural history production values with character-based narrative and follows a range of chimpanzee characters as they strive to survive and prosper in the difficult, complex and political world of Ngogo.
Chimp Empire was co-produced with Keo Films, narrated by two-time Academy Award Winner Mahershala Ali and debuted on Netflix in 2023 to great acclaim.
